Half of nightlife quality is the ride home. Kaohsiung’s rails make it simple — once you know their bedtime.
The rules of thumb
Red and orange around midnight, light rail around eleven — exact times vary by station, so the official app rules the day. Design with an “in the gate by eleven-thirty” law and the platform never goes dark on you.
Route design: end beside a station
The core trick: the last act sits in a station’s walking circle — Liuhe by Formosa Blvd, Ruifeng by Arena, Pier-2’s bars by Yanchengpu and the LRT, Sanduo is its own name. Glance at the clock at eleven; start the roll-out sequence.
Past-midnight fallbacks
Meters are kind, cross-district mostly under NT$300; or flip to the deep-night channel — the supper map’s station-circle congee runs until the first train.
Alcohol and the wheel
Scooter riders: the bike sleeps where it parked. A morning pickup costs a walk; the alternative costs everything. Designated drivers cluster thick around Xinxing — store the number before the first round.
